and how did my england-europe trip end?
- left penniless in heathrow airport for 2 hours and because no one would accept my credit card hence i couldn't afford to pay for a drink :thirsty:
- a boring plane ride which felt longer than it really should
- a fat english lady who filled her seat entirely + 1/3 of mine
- the air stewardess asking me if i was over 18 when i asked for a bacardi
- seriously jetlagged, completely shattered but turned up for work the next day anyway
all the happy times seems to cease at that moment! oh well, we cannot just have all the fun right? back to reality!

day 14 - cambridge
yup this is the place our 'O' level certifications supposedly came from. i wouldn't say i was a very good "cambridge" student though haha.
there were a couple of graduations going on as it was summer. it must be really cool to be graduating from cambridge, i'm sure the parents are gloriously proud of their children on this day. witnessing this graduation brought back some memories. i saw my bro-in-law's graduation photo hanging on the wall at his mum's place when we visited and it hit me that i should really go take a proper graduation shot in the studio. nevermind that it's LONG overdue, but i should really do it! - at least for my parents.
we rented a boat and decided to punt it ourselves down the cambridge river. the bro-in-law took up the punter's role initially. he was doing a really good job!
the heroic dad got excited and took over the role from the hardworking bro-in-law. the dad was pretty good as well, but i was so afraid that he might sprain his back or something.
my turn to take over! it was fun albeit tiring to punt. i would say it requires 60% technique and 40% strength.
this is it
ironically, "This Is It" is the name of his series of 50 comeback concerts. 50 shows in less than a year - is this overly ambitious? is it simply an attempt to fix his debt disasters? i choose to believe that he did it for the love of his fans, as king of pop, he has the social responsibility to fulfil the dreams of as many fans as possible in the world since this was going to be his last performance.
"When I say this is it," Michael said, "it really means this is it."

day 13 - thames river cruise and greenwich
we took a river cruise along river thames to greenwich. big sun that day! i think i just got darker after the cruise!
we had fun walking in the park and the dad particularly enjoyed feeding the wild animals in the park.
the squirrels were soooo cute!!! i tried to feed them peanuts but none came to me! hmph! all went to the dad instead.
excuse me for the cheesy pose in the park hah!

day 12 - windsor castle, stonehenge and roman bath
today we joined a tour bus along with other tourists. first up was to see the windsor castle, photos were not allowed inside the castle hence we could only manage pictures of its exterior.

i prefer leeds castle to windsor as windsor tend to be more touristy with organised tours like the one i joined coming in one after another.
nonetheless, windsor is still a famous castle to visit so i'm glad we came!
i like stonehenge! it's a world heritage site and i am amazed at how the ancient people managed to move those rocks without modern day technologies like the cranes to help them.

last stop was the original roman bath. the hot springs within the roman bath spa place is still active after so many years. i quite like romanian architectures i realised. for some reasons which i cannot explain, hah!
it's no longer an 'it'
the sis went for her baby's sexing scan this morning and.....
*drum rolls*
a baby girl!
looks like it's going to be a niece for me!

day 9 - leeds castle in kent
we rented a five seater citroen and took a scenic drive up to kent to see the leeds castle. stopped for fish and chips lunch at a local pub and to get our directions right before heading off again.
surrounding the castle were acres of land with a lake in the middle.
the dad and his bollywood attempt.
what you see behind me are lavenders, didn't know that the scent from lavenders actually come from the leaves and not really the flower itself!
the exterior of the castle before we enter it.
inside the castle is a recreation of how the different rooms looked like. there were some replicas but mostly everything you see is the real thing.
the dad was a little spooked out by the rooms of the castle - parts of the castle are opened for people to live in, the dad says he would never sleep in the room even if you paid him, hah!
view from second floor.

this is a perfect picture of a peacock going after a peahen! peacock getting hornnnnyyyy...and trying to attract the attention of the peahen, nope - i didn't stay on till the end to see if he succeeded, i hope he did!
i liked this picture, nice shot by my LX3! very pleased.
nice trip out of london city, definitely worth going.

day 8 - buckingham palace and all around westminster
guess one of the most important place to visit would be the buckingham palace. althought tourists are not allowed inside the palace but it's still a must-see isn't it?
this is the diana princess of wales memorial walk. try matching the feets to the people!
rest of the day was spent walking all around westminster covering most of london city.
spotted some protestors along the road protesting against the gaza strip conflict. perhaps it's a good thing that Singapore keeps its protestors at bay with it's strict rules and regulations. in England they have since spent about 300 million pounds in police efforts just so that people can go on strikes and demonstrations. not the best thing to have during a financial crisis like this!
we ended the day with a sumptuous roast meat meal at a HK restaurant in chinatown.

day 7 - madam tussauds
always nice to kick start a day with a good and healthy breakfast. usually we'll have tea with toasts. simple but satisfying.
today we were at madam tussauds, pretty much spent the entire day there followed by some shopping after!
though rooney's not exactly dad's idol but at least rooney's from his favourite team - Man Utd.
justin timberlake
the dad was in a 'posing' mood hah!
