Sand's surprise birthday party
Thursday was Sand's birthday and i decided to be wicked this year by playing a trick on her. we were supposed to take her out for dinner on wednesday but all of us flew her a huge kite at the very last minute haha...i sent her an SMS "hey sorry can't meet tonight cos my cat is alone at home." of course it made her hit the roof! lol
apparently she was so disappointed that all of us having been friends for so many years, neglected her birthday celebration. of course, as it turned out, we had a huge surprise party in place for her! we were already at Sun Moon Japanese restaurant waiting for her to come! Den was so sweet to have at all planned out. everyone worked together to keep Sand in the dark. ).JPG)

poems i wrote to the boss
random poem #1:
every week i sit and ponder,
what can i write to leave my boss in wonder?!
i write it longer and longer and longer,
to show my boss i'm such a brilliant worker.
random poem #2:
i totally have the BB spirit,
when i talk, i use only BB's scripts.
during weekends, i walk on BB's street,
and when i shit, they are all BB's tidbits!
random poem #3:
i write my weekly bit by bit,
i try not to sound like too orrh beat.
i am bery good at all the bullsh!t,
to me writing is like chicken feed.
budden my english is little bit,
yet my hokkien has no limit.
so, wa eh towkay, towkay, towkay,
please kindly bear and live with it.
many kam sia you.
*honestly, i don't know why they still think i'm not serious in my job.

my parent's 30th wedding anniversary
today is the 30th year my mum and dad got married! we decided that we should all go out and have a celebration for dad; kudos to him for being able to stand my crazy mum for three full decades! we went to PUMP room at Clarke Quay (how cool is that? PUMP room with mum and dad? heh) for dinner. had a couple of beers there too.
random conversation #23:
sis's BF: congratulations to your 30 years of happy marriage!
dad: 30 years of marriage true, but happy...only one year.
sis: you wanna know why? cos i came along after the first year.
haven't i said enough about the dysfunctional members of my family?

client: hi, can i speak to anyone from your IT department?
me: hmm, sir, do you have a specific name that you're looking for?
client: anyone.
me: sure sir, perhaps you would like to tell me what is this call regarding?
client: yeah it's regarding the IT infrastructure re-engineering of your company

kahhhhhh PUI!....welcome to China
Q: how do you know you have not been blogging for a really long time?
A: when you forgot your blogspot login password
i know it must have been over a thousand years since my previous entry. i promise to do better than this. ok, the revival of my blog shall start with my long overdue Beijing trip!
yeah...i went BJ and guess who i stayed with again? haha, EC lor. she is now permanently located there on an expat package with EY Beijing. drawing a 5 figure Singapore dollars salary...go to China x 5 = Renminbi...but cost of living is ÷ed by 5. this equation translates to a big spacious 3 bedroom apartment in a high class residential area + a maid to clean her house + dine in expensive restaurants everyday. well of course everything comes with a price: imagine opening up MS Word documents which are full of funny Chinese characters that you cannot read + a whole waiting list of free loader friends from Singapore taking turns to visit. heh.
the weather in BJ was very good, it was about 16 degrees in the day when i arrived. everything was perfect until i cannot stop noticing how all the China men (and women mind you!) spits on the floor non stop! it was Kahh Pui here and Kahhhhh Pui there! SIBEH DISGUSTING.
anyways, first stop we visited Tian Tan Gong, which btw i had no idea what the entire place was about. i was supposed to read up on it before i go but....
dinner was at this ATAS place called Hutong, it is like the BJ's equivalent of dining by Clarke Quay. think China Lake with swan boats in place of Singapore River and junk boats.
it was food, food, and more food in BJ.
as you may have already noticed, China does not really have the concept of having Small, Medium, Large when it comes to the size of their dishes. it is always a one size fits all, and usually it just means Large. in case you were wondering, where is that Peking duck?!

it was "stuffing face with Peking duck" activity every alternate day. it was almost like a ritual.
few days have passed and the weather turned colder and colder, before i knew it, it was about 4 degrees at night. and i bet you my toes, i was the only person in entire BJ wearing bermudas in this weather. everywhere i went i was being stared at in disbelief.
that aside, i was really happy to meet up with XX and Kinbo! so much have been said about visiting them in BJ and i am just so glad it finally happened.
we took a drive to The Great Wall and sat on the chairlift up to climb the wall. it was awesome, the leaves were about to turn red as autumn is here. and that was then i found out that all 3 of them were acrophobic yet they took the chairlift cos i wanted to. 真的是舍命陪君子.

we took the speedway down, it was exactly like the Luge i played during my NZ trip in 2006. really strange eh? i bet Emperor Qin would never have guessed that a few thousand years after his death people are building all kinds of nonsense on his sacred construction. a speedway and Starbucks coffeeshop?! i wonder if he'll jump out of his grave and say Hi to commercialization.
good food, excellent company.
meet Ted, my new found friend.
next up was Forbidden City.
it was forbiddened indeed, cos it was FULL of people. literally "people mountain people sea". the best i could manage was to take a picture at its front door. heh.
good times zoom past and before i knew it, it was time to go home. one last chance to kapok a few packets of Wang Lao Ji (China's equivalent of Jia Jia Liang Teh) before i leave for the airport.
with this, i kissed BJ goodbye...
and just right before i left, i used up all my strength..and KAAAAAAHHHH PUI-ed!!! on the floor outside the airport. ha ha ha...
