give blood, give life

i donated blood again today, it's my 15th donation. i was 18 years old the very first time i did this. i was with vaan and ee after tkd training on a saturday and saw a mobile blood donation drive along orchard road.i'm not sure if i fully understood the meaning of giving blood when i was 18, it was probably more like "doing it for fun". never would have imagined that over the years, i will have friends whom actually benefited from such blood donations. R was in a critical condition from a failed surgery and CT Sir who was involved in a traffic accident all managed to have blood transfusions because of the kind donors...although sadly, both of them did not survive the ordeal.

my friends, i really hope you can give blood donation a try at least once. it's really just an excuse when you say that you're "afraid of needles"... just think of the people that you're saving... and one day those who benefit from it can potentially be a friend or relative.

干您拿被超级白

a breaking news regarding our HK office spreaded like wildfire just before lunchtime today. obviously the SP office is BUAY SONG. haha.

so JY twitted this: 世界上好像没有东西是公平的, 对吗?
and my reply was: 只有"公"主 and "公"子 vs. "平"民。我们是平民。

oh well.. i know nothing's fair in this world yada yada... but...
我还真的很想大声说: "干您拿被超级白!"

i do... i do?

mixed feelings over the past few days really. sleepless nights and countless conversations with the innerself - questioning, deliberating... all the "why i shoulds" and "why i shouldn'ts"...

i'm not as suave as i thought i could be, not as decisive as i wish i would be. alot of it has to do with being intimidated. confronting your fears all at once is not an easy task. on top of it, there's the practical side of things.

it's amazing how i've discovered so much about myself just through the process of making a decision. i cannot imagine how much more i'll learn and grow when my actual "adventure" begins.

for better or for worse, it's going to be an experience of a lifetime. i've already said yes to him. right now it's just a waiting game i'm playin... before the final "YES I DO".

weeeeeds!

my BIGGEST TAKEAWAY from the community service we did at kranji was actually this:

the nature society professor said: "so what are weeds?... weeds are UNWANTED grass. GOOD grass at the WRONG place also = weeds... and it is the PERSON who DECIDES which grass are unwanted and will have it REMOVED." >>> this is sooooo applicable to the corporate world isn't it??!!

moral of the story is: being in the right place at the right time is so much more important than being the right person for the job.

haha!

PCK boots in kranji

this time BB's community service brought us to kranji marsh area to clear out weeds so that migrant birds can come! before anything else... pose for a pic in our PCK boots first!half of the group went to the wetland area to pull out weeds. it's back breaking and not easy to move around especially with boots 2 sizes too big - you get stuck in the mud.the other half had to hack down all the giant mimosas - not kidding, those mimosas were twice my height!! everyone was doing their best and at the end of it we were all wet from head to toe.with our collective efforts we managed to clear up a path leading to the coconut tree which we used as a landmark target!

penang - pinang peranakan museum

once again back at the same museum, but i wasn't bored at all! i love this museum, they allow you to touch most of the exhibits and that's what makes the tour really interactive.these suitcases were from india, i really love those colourful prints! how i wish i own one of them.the lover's chair once again. but this time, with the mum and the dad on it :) awesome picture.the ancestral hall is the only part of the house that was still owned by its original owners - the rest of the house was sold off to a merchant who was an avid antique collector.

penang - kek lok si

was good that we went to 极乐寺 as i didn't have the chance to see it during my previous trip. it's a huge temple but only the pagoda is the actual heritage site if i'm not wrong, the rest were pretty much built around the pagoda at a much later time.the mum made a donation to light a 平安灯 for our family.the dad made another donation to buy a tile for the temple..well the only reason why i'm putting this photo up is because, according to the dad.. he is "very good looking in this photo". :) and yes i agree! especially in the oakley shades!you are allowed to climb up the pagoda which is the actual heritage site there.the view from above was paranomic, worth the climb!

fate and god's work?

IV and J's baby girl arrived on 05/05! - same day as IV's birthday.. such a great coincidence right? feelin happy for them especially since i knew the both of them since our poly days. who would've imagined them getting together based on the fact that they've never talked to each other for the 2 yrs when we were in the same class. today they're not just married, but also proud parents.it's amazing how fate works. :)

really...really?

really?

things seem to have taken a turn....... for the better?

i was put in a situation i've never imagined i'd be in.
the conversation seemed unreal to me...

let's just wait patiently for the "DHL" to arrive first, take a peek into the box... and see how it goes :)

slightly life changing...
very life changing...
or super life changing?
