1st singapore tattoo show

WOOTZ, the first ever Singapore Tattoo Show was held at the Singapore EXPO over a period of 3 days. pretty successful one which saw the participation of many famous artists from all over the world!and of course ART ADDICTIVE was also part of the action! due to lack of booth space (especially when we have a crew with average BMI of 30 and above) , it was actually quite a challenge to have everything set up within the booth! got space for equipment no space for human!finally some time to relax before Mel gets on with his appointments back to back! great job!Chris Garver from Miami ink was also here as a guest of honour, his studio wasn't here to do ink anyone, but people queue up for ages just to purchase a poster with his signature on it.i quite liked the Miami Ink reality TV show although very much the only real thing about this show is the tattoos they do. heh...mai kaysiao lah, where got people's life everyday also so emo and dramatic one!one of our neighbouring booth Burning Heart Tattoo came all the way from... Holland? sorry i forgot! heh.

Mel's neighbour at Pagoda St - Galaxy Tattoo. and yes.. BUTT CRACK!!! the number of butt cracks i see over this weekend is more than the combined butt cracks i've ever seen in my entire lifetime!

these are the models brought from East Brave Heart Tattoo from Taiwan, they are both already mothers to more than one child, can you believe it? makes me wanna do something radical with my life! let's start with... mastering how to dig my nose shit with a toe???she's a pretty sexy and hot mum. super impressed. she competed in best back piece and best colour works and won awards for her studio.another big shot to look out for is Paul Booth! and when i say "BIG" i meant it literally.... i don't know if i should pity him, or the tiny chair that he's sitting on.

he's an awesome guy who never once said "No" to a photo.. getting tattooed by him doesn't come cheap at all! but as they always say "Good Tattoos are not Cheap, Cheap Tattoos are not Good".

another model engaged by Taiwan Diau An Tattoo studio. this model very hamsen also! he was wearing a very sexy Calvin Klein G-string underwear... he really let my imagination go wild... cos i remember seeing the same G string for all 3 days??? hmmm...

our piercer Ron at work! this lady has come to get her tongue and lip pierced.. it looks DAMN PAINFUL but apparently the lady said it wasn't at all.. looks like Ron did a marvellous job :)

our booth attracted quite a bit of attention too.this is our entire "crew" after a long day's work. it was a fantastic event, very happy and honoured to be part of it. and i'm really surprised at the turnout, it was FULL almost every day. what really surprised me was that i see many normal looking average kind of Singaporeans with really elaborate tattoos all over the body and even arms, some even look like a bank teller to me.. hmm.. won't affect their work meh?!?... oh well.. having a tattoo's pretty cool so good for them, as long as they dont regret it later.

dinner at kimchoo with BB peeps

after stumbling upon Kim Choo restaurant - the place where they filmed the final episode of The Little Nyonya during new year's eve, i was determined to try out their pernakan cuisine! so a bunch of girls from work went with me for a dinner there...this was the exact round table were yuenniang (jeanette-aw) and aunty xiujian (cynthia koh) sat! it was so much fun because there were people like lian and GW who loves The Little Nyonya series like me too!on the 2nd floor you can also find a small retailing space selling nyonya wares and apparelsa display of spices used in peranakan cuisinethe babi ponteh we had at chilli padi was much better but the ikan assam pedas here at kim choo is tastier..

happy new year 2009!

new year's eve this year was pretty good! i left work at about 330pm and walked over the One George to meet up with LL and R. we made a reservation for a table of 9 at this Peranakan restaurant in Joo Chiat at 7pm. but we've decided to start our "The Little Nyonya trail" early! started off by going into this very traditional baba nyonya cafe for some nyonya kueh kuehs for afternoon tea.rempah udang, a traditional kueh made famous again because of the show...

notice the huge porcelain plate behind me? it appeared in The Little Nyonya's final episode, that's how we figured that it was filmed in this restaurant :)

then we walked along the streets of Katong to explore the old houses.. the colours and designs really caught my heart.if only my ancestors left us something like this! too bad, both my grandmas used to live in a Kampong and there's nothing left of it now!imagine having a house with a history of more than 80 years.. and you can pass it down to your descendants. it's a shame to know that there's not much culture/tradition or old wares my mum can leave with me, and i probably will have ZERO culture or traditions to pass to my kids in future too??anyways here's the restaurant where we had our Tok Pan-jang!! good atmosphere and it was very, very busy at the restaurant. dont know if this is the effect of the TV drama??

the restaurant was also selling lots of new year goodies.. yum!!

ok and lian's words came true.. our Tok Pan-jang (long table feast) became Tok Bulat (round table).. and it was a very big "bulat". damn it.. cannot recreate the "feel" of my Little Nyonya showwe ordered ALL the dishes that was mentioned in the TV show! we had Ikan Assam Pedas, Nyonya Chap Chye, Ayam Buah Keluak, Ngoh Heong and many more.. but most importantly.. BABI PONTEH!! this was Yue-niang's Mah Mah's favourite dish in the show, and it turned out to be our favourite dish of the night too! :) very, very nice.after dinner we retreated to LL's place, and why is it not surprising that we put episodes after episodes of Little Nyonya on TV?! heh!but of course, there is always time to pop a champagne. everyone's hopeful for a good year in 2009.
my favourite Moet & Chandon! it just tastes better, especially when you share it with friends whom you have known for more than a decade.ok now the funny part of our celebration - we started gambling blackjack throughout the night. why is it that for a moment i thought it was the Chinese New Year? ahhaha.. funnY!oh i think this is the part where Gin thought she was going to strike a blackjack!!... and she didnt. hee hee hee...thankyou all.. for the wonderful night. i had fun discussing about Little Nyonya's story plot and singing pantun with you guys!

tri la li la la baba... tri la li la la nyon-ya!!!
