day 8 - buckingham palace and all around westminster

guess one of the most important place to visit would be the buckingham palace. althought tourists are not allowed inside the palace but it's still a must-see isn't it?this is the diana princess of wales memorial walk. try matching the feets to the people!rest of the day was spent walking all around westminster covering most of london city.spotted some protestors along the road protesting against the gaza strip conflict. perhaps it's a good thing that Singapore keeps its protestors at bay with it's strict rules and regulations. in England they have since spent about 300 million pounds in police efforts just so that people can go on strikes and demonstrations. not the best thing to have during a financial crisis like this!we ended the day with a sumptuous roast meat meal at a HK restaurant in chinatown.

day 6 - avenue Q

the mum and the dad arrived today! they looked perky and not too jet lagged which is good. unfortunately we couldnt go out for dinner together because the sis, the bro in law and me are going to watch avenue Q together at west end.i had no idea what avenue Q was about before this, all i knew was 1) they were in Singapore other time and 2) it's a comedy. it turned out to be really good! the jokes were quite funny, the actors had great control over the puppets and their facial expressions were really good! great show, i liked it! :)

days 3,4,5 - prague in czech republic

the entire city of Prague looks so quaint and almost unreal to me. the medieval buildings were largely well preserved and any kind of modern architectures were far away from the city centre.you could walk to just about anywhere within Prague's zone 1 (the city center called Praha 1)and you'd have covered all the must dos and sees.

municipal house in old town Prague:astronomical clock in old town square:henry's bell tower:crossing the charle's bridge to Prague castle:changing of guards near the castle:st vitus cathedral:i personally feel that the cathedral is a must visit! the cathedral is made up of small individual chapels and is the resting place of many important figures of the Czech history.as you walk back to charles bridge it's not uncommon to see people performing music on the streets.i think the government of Czech did a good job preserving the buidings and heritage in this sense, at least they don't tear down buildings as they like or paint them in green, pink and yellow. (think chinatown heritage shophouses!)hang in there buddy!it took me awhile to get used to the city, because everything looks so unreal - it's almost like you are walking within 'movie world' or something. and by the time i got used to the buildings, it was time to go. Prague's really good for a 2D1N or max 3D2N trip :)

day 2 - london camden market

we went to the camden market today and this is a place famous for the freaks and goth scene. we were there quite early so we missed the freaks! hah.the shops were interestingly decorated with elaborate exteriors, lots of tattoo shops there too.after camden market we took a walk down to the British Museum which was HIGHLY recommended by LL.but i didn't like it there, because it was busy and noisy and i hate it when people kept touching the pieces despite seeing "DO NOT TOUCH" signs everywhere. oh well but it's still an experience and it was free so it was ok!"i am thinking"haha must take photo with london telephone booth lah.

day 1 - london burroughs market

i slept through the entire 13 hour flight journey from Singapore to London - just a couple of vodkas did the trick! i had wanted to watch a couple of inflight movies but there were only another 40 minutes of flight time left! lucky...or not?!

the sis met me at Paddington station and she lives right beside Regent's Park, which apparently is a very ATAS area. we can walk to just about anywhere in central London.we went home and the bro-in-law had just woke up. afterwhich we took the tube + walk to the burroughs market.the weather was fine when i arrived so it's a good day to be out in the sun.went to this shop selling nothing but cheese, to be honest the smell was a little pungent for me hah! but yeah i like cheese!lots of individual shops selling wine, spirits and other mixes which were quite refreshing on a hot summer's day.you bet! (as long as it's not China i think we can all trust :p)there were lots of fresh produce, bread, jams, meats, pizzas and many more... i really like it although the sausage sandwich we had that day was ermm.. so-so.i would have loved to eat the paella, it looks delicious! but by the time we saw this we were already quite full from the sausage sandwich. :(perhaps we can bring the mum and dad here when they arrive and we can all try the paella!i'm sure the sangria is good.

dad's 55 birthday!

yup! the dad turned 55 this year! he's happy cos he can finally withdraw his CPF monies. not like it's alot of money cos i still owe him a huge chunk of educational loan haha. and also not like he is desperately waiting for the money cos he needs it but because he just doesnt like the idea that our gahmen is sitting on his hard earned money heh!we had dinner at this chinese restaurant in the newly opened TampinesOne, the food was very much to the dad's liking and he was very satisfied after the meal. yup we did try to order dishes like tofu so that at least i can chew a little hah.to many more good years to come!

the day i really became toothless chen

hah this title was inspired by THIS ENTRY which was back in 2008 january lol.

this wisdom tooth surgery can easily be one of my most traumatic experience of a lifetime - seriously!! i had only wanted to remove one tooth but the doctor super insisted that i should remove both upper and lower this time. as i was very kiasi i kept telling the doctor i could still feel pain even though he had already injected alot of anethetics. hah so he said "wah very hard to earn your money cos the amount of anethetics i used on you is easily more than 2 times of the normal dosage"

anyways i could feel him cut open my gums - he didn't go for the "cut-tooth-into-smaller-pieces-before-removing-it-one-by-one" strategy. instead he went for the "die-die-try-to-pull-entire-tooth-out" way... and so he twist and turned and twist and turned - stood up - continue to twist and turn and pull and pull and PULL - after like 20 minutes the lower tooth finally came out in one piece! *APPLAUSE*second tooth was less of an ordeal but still.. also by surgery. sigh. anyways i'm glad it is ALL OVER!!!so will i go for ANOTHER wisdom tooth surgery?!?!?! IT VERY VERY SERIOUS CONSIDERATIONS ARE NEEDED!!

wrapping up

last day at work today!! it's been a beautiful sunday (so far)- good weather, not busy and colleague S paid for our mcdonalds breakfast! finally had the chance to watch The Ultimatum on mobtv today, the show is just so-so (as expected) but one thing which really irritates me is the fact that they let Zoe Tay play the daughter of Lin Meijiao?!?! my god. how unconvincing!

anyways, i'm starting to get a little nervous about my tooth surgery on monday morning i think i will freak out a little. hmm...hope to recover from the swell asap as i've got a couple of errands to run. most importantly gotta drop my CPU at the HP service center, hopefully it can be fixed with minimal cost!! *broke*

i think i'm going to miss Singapore. i think i will miss my NYP TKD students, i will miss my colleagues, i will miss playing badminton and i will miss ah siao!!!

pc crashed

okie, my home PC officially crashed. it won't even give me the startup screen anymore. going to get someone to come and fix it at home cos the warranty's over. luckily it's not the end of my world, all thanks to backing up of data which was done religiously at regular intervals!

meanwhile, all the mobbing and blogging would have to be done in.... THE OFFICE! :p

ps: excited to know that this is my last week of work before i go for a LONG break!
