mount kinabalu day 3

and so we slept from 6pm to 2am, woke up and got ready to conquer the summit!we do not have much photo opportunities during the climb up because 1) it was too dark 2) it was too cold 3) the climb was too tough. look at my pissed off face haha. grr...we can gradually see what's going on around us as the day unfolds...sunrise!!!we climbed and climbed...but did not get to the top-Top part of the mountain because some of them felt too cold to carry on. kindda regretted though, i should have insisted everyone come with me to the top! now i almost feel like i didn't do a good job in climbing the mountain.well, always safety first i guess! so my advise is, BE WELL EQUIPPED!the four friends made it, it was quite a moving scene, heh...yup, we travelled 8+ kilometers and was at 4,000 meters above sea level! woohoo! literally taking our friendship to "greater heights".the coming down part was much more interesting for me, although it can be quite tough on the knees.we engaged in an 'extra activity' - so instead of coming down where we came up from, we went down via this route called feretta, it's a little like repelling down the rocks and it was great fun!after another round of breakfast and some rest we prepare for our final climb down, to the foot of the mountain, where we originally started.i love this shot, captured by me =)

mount kinabalu day 2

morning briefing just before we start our climb...still happy faces but it's short lived. haha...i can tell you, climbing up mount kinabalu is NOT easy. i mean it's definitely attainable.. but NOT easy. you got to have lots of determination to do it! and of course some basic physical fitness too. heh.we all think this is an AWESOME picture - it would have been perfect if we can photoshop away that ang moh in red shirt sitting in the background. grrr!!!after nearly six and a half hours, we finally reached pendant hut - the place where we will spend our night!! we all knew in one way or another we're going to get here, it was just a matter of.. TIME.i insisted on a shower even though the place which we were staying in hardly had any hot water. veryyy cold!!! not forgetting applying those muscle rubs before sleeping!we went to sleep (at least we attempted) at about 6pm because we will have to wake up at 2am to prepare for our last leg of the climb up the summit!!

mount kinabalu day 1

got up bright and early that morning to catch our flight...somehow waking up for our flight that day was sooo much easier compared to waking up for work :pall our barang barangs and we're ready to go! seriously, i had the smallest bag for the trip but i think i was the most well equipped one!then we reached our hotel "A" which was rose cabin. pretty decent place to stay in, was clean too.room was spacious and with very retro style blankets, heh...first lunch of the day... looks much better than it tastes!! yucks... but LL's lunch was worse so... haha.after lunch was a relaxing walk out, just taking a stroll to check out the surroundings. pretty good view around us actually and the weather was great!!yup! one of the best shot of the trip! heh.. must do my mario jumping shots before i'm too tired for one after the climb! all set and ready to go for the peak the next day!

i so can picture ah siao stuck in this situation one day...
anywayyyyssss...2 more days to mount kina and I STILL DO NOT HAVE A PAIR OF TREKKING PANTS!!!

to be honest, R's email freaked me out a little when he said:

"Dear team, as we count down to our very adventurous trip, this is a reminder to everyone of us to ensure that we have gotten our equipment packed and checked. This is not our typical trip..."

yes.. and obviously.. I HAVE NOT PACKED EITHER!!

i know.. i ALWAYS pack like JUST before i get on the plane... but this time i'm really not too sure if i can get away with it so quickly! i was trying to desperately come out with a list of "Things To Bring" amidst all the crazy phone calls i had to make to the clients at work today and... i simply LOST TRACK!

ok am going to bring my notepad and pen with me and write whatever i can think of on the way home... god bless.

yes i FINALLY found THE ULTIMATE trekking pants which is not cheap but not too expensive. 89 bucks from columbia:

quick dry material - checked
can detach to become shorts - checked
can attach to become long pants - checked
can go well with my green columbia jacket - double checked
will look good in photos - triple checked

looks like i am just left with the packing part and i should be ready to go!! wish me good luck!

my durian theory on friends

let's just say JY was a little emo about how she has somewhat drifted apart from her group of close friends. this brought about an interesting conversation we had one morning:

me: let's put it this way...朋友分很多grade的.
me: 有猫山王也有金风
JY: 朋友＝榴莲?　
me: yes the idea is there
JY: sometimes very good..sometimes very smelly?
JY: should always be there for you... yet sometimes seasonally there?

=) i think she got the idea. heh.

'seasonal' friends are people whom you find yourself hanging out with almost everynight for the next 3 months and then you taper off - you may or may not meet again in future.

then you have your durian derivatives type of friends - your durian puffs and cakes - they will taste good only on special occasions or when you have the cravings. fun to have them around but you dont need them everyday to keep you going.

the most important friends to keep would be your classic D24s - a specie which existed since forever and will continue to be there however many years later. you may or may not get to be with them all the time but you know they will taste as good any day and anytime of the year.

well, people come and go. you can have many friends but only that many of them can stand the test of time and space. i value friendship alot and i am happy to know that i have a list of friends whom i keep their names close to my heart - i know i can go to them when i am happy when i am sad and when i am in trouble. i wouldn't measure the quality of a friendship based on time - as always - i believe friendships can go 'up one level' if we go through certain things in life or share deep meaningful thoughts =)

and why am i speaking like a durian expert when i don't even eat 'em? heh...

treated the BB boys and girls to dinner at waraku@the centralthen we went to cafe iguana for their frozen margs..err but all i remember was, someone took away my frozen marg and shoved tequila shots at me =(anyways been so so long since i drank myself silly.and so after 9 shots...and so after 13 or was it 14 or was it 15 shots?...japanese food in... japanese puke out...hee hee hee...now this is the best "shot"... the unglam shot lor.one year older...one year wiser... ACHIEVE IT!

exactly 2 years ago on this day... i started my first day of work in BB! and i'm still here!! *APPLAUSE*

random new friends...

one random day i started talking to a random friend at work - let's call her JY. through many random conversations of ours we randomly found out that we actually have alot in common...

for instance we both:
1) were ex national athletes (JY is a swimmer)
2) went to the same competitions
3) sat together in an aeroplane 3 years ago - TOTALLY random
4) live in the east
5) studied in the same kindergarten and primary school
6) like chicken breast meat - ok not important

anyways you get the idea...and the list goes on

to be honest i was very surprised with myself that i went for it (twice!), as you know...i don't particularly like to meet new, random, unknown people. in short, i don't like to make new friends. haha - so have i transformed from an anti-social to a bubbly chick who is always eager to meet new people??!

anyways, this is my story of how i met so many random new friends.

this blog entry was inspired by my friends. basically HE wrote an entry and SHE wrote back.

now it's MY turn to write...

i also have a friend, to make things easy - let's call her 'The One' in this entry. my 'The One' friend calls me her 'Number One' - i am very happy but yet at the same time she calls another guy her 'Only One'. so i am very confused because who then is exactly her One and Only One?

now i am a little jealous because 'Only One' says he will not leave 'The One' behind when we go mountain climbing in august. then 'The One' told "Number One' not to worry about her because she is confident of her fitness. now the thing is Hello, please look at me, because i am the truly CMI one! - but no one mentioned anything about helping me up the mountain - so unfair one!

apart from the three of us who are going to climb mountain -- there is this 'Other One'. i wonder if i can count on this 'Other One' to wait for me...hahaha

when the buying stops, the killing can too
