GO vs NO

on MSN:

the guy friend: how's work?
qix: emotional part of me says GO...rational part of me says NO...
qix: no money no talk!

the guy friend: yah lor! stay lah...
the guy friend: why go? it's going to be same shit, different company

qix: really? but now i feel it's same company, different shit. how?
the guy friend: in the army we always say...
the guy friend: same shit different day...hahah
qix: i think more like same PAY different shit!!...

oh well, so now it's a battle between the right and left brain...

btw this is the same guy friend who said THIS to me...

ok maybe it ain't that bad to continue being friends with him... heh

my durian theory on friends

let's just say JY was a little emo about how she has somewhat drifted apart from her group of close friends. this brought about an interesting conversation we had one morning:

me: let's put it this way...朋友分很多grade的.
me: 有猫山王也有金风
JY: 朋友=榴莲?
me: yes the idea is there
JY: sometimes very good..sometimes very smelly?
JY: should always be there for you... yet sometimes seasonally there?

=) i think she got the idea. heh.

'seasonal' friends are people whom you find yourself hanging out with almost everynight for the next 3 months and then you taper off - you may or may not meet again in future.

then you have your durian derivatives type of friends - your durian puffs and cakes - they will taste good only on special occasions or when you have the cravings. fun to have them around but you dont need them everyday to keep you going.

the most important friends to keep would be your classic D24s - a specie which existed since forever and will continue to be there however many years later. you may or may not get to be with them all the time but you know they will taste as good any day and anytime of the year.

well, people come and go. you can have many friends but only that many of them can stand the test of time and space. i value friendship alot and i am happy to know that i have a list of friends whom i keep their names close to my heart - i know i can go to them when i am happy when i am sad and when i am in trouble. i wouldn't measure the quality of a friendship based on time - as always - i believe friendships can go 'up one level' if we go through certain things in life or share deep meaningful thoughts =)

and why am i speaking like a durian expert when i don't even eat 'em? heh...

ok end of my trying-to-be emo post.

random new friends...

one random day i started talking to a random friend at work - let's call her JY. through many random conversations of ours we randomly found out that we actually have alot in common...

for instance we both:
1) were ex national athletes (JY is a swimmer)
2) went to the same competitions
3) sat together in an aeroplane 3 years ago - TOTALLY random
4) live in the east
5) studied in the same kindergarten and primary school
6) like chicken breast meat - ok not important

anyways you get the idea...and the list goes on
.
.
.
.
another random day this JY friend of mine asked me out for supper with her group of friends - i don't know anyone of them but i went anyways - let's call them DY and gang.

random day again - i went for desserts with another Bigger group of JY's friends - and i Still don't know most of them - let's call them DY and gang and gang.

to be honest i was very surprised with myself that i went for it (twice!), as you know...i don't particularly like to meet new, random, unknown people. in short, i don't like to make new friends. haha - so have i transformed from an anti-social to a bubbly chick who is always eager to meet new people??!

anyways, this is my story of how i met so many random new friends.

we live in a random world.

one

this blog entry was inspired by my friends. basically HE wrote an entry and SHE wrote back.

now it's MY turn to write...

i also have a friend, to make things easy - let's call her 'The One' in this entry. my 'The One' friend calls me her 'Number One' - i am very happy but yet at the same time she calls another guy her 'Only One'. so i am very confused because who then is exactly her One and Only One?

now i am a little jealous because 'Only One' says he will not leave 'The One' behind when we go mountain climbing in august. then 'The One' told "Number One' not to worry about her because she is confident of her fitness. now the thing is Hello, please look at me, because i am the truly CMI one! - but no one mentioned anything about helping me up the mountain - so unfair one!

apart from the three of us who are going to climb mountain -- there is this 'Other One'. i wonder if i can count on this 'Other One' to wait for me...hahaha

when the buying stops, the killing can too

A shark finning protester hung herself to the ceiling of a shop window with shark hooks pierced through her skin. The stunt was part of the company's campaign to end shark's finning.A Lush spokesman said: "We are trying to change people's perceptions about sharks as a lot of people still associate them with Jaws.

"There was only one person killed by a shark attack in 2007, and yet we killed 100 million sharks for their fins last year, so we are clearly a bigger threat to them than they are to us."When they are caught the sharks are pulled from the water, their fins are sliced off, and they are kicked back into the ocean, so they sink to the bottom and suffer a slow death."please, let's all stop eating shark's fin. when the buying stops, the killing can too

hope you are well

is this it?

and how did my england-europe trip end?

- left penniless in heathrow airport for 2 hours and because no one would accept my credit card hence i couldn't afford to pay for a drink :thirsty:
- a boring plane ride which felt longer than it really should
- a fat english lady who filled her seat entirely + 1/3 of mine
- the air stewardess asking me if i was over 18 when i asked for a bacardi
- seriously jetlagged, completely shattered but turned up for work the next day anyway

all the happy times seems to cease at that moment! oh well, we cannot just have all the fun right? back to reality!

day 14 - cambridge

yup this is the place our 'O' level certifications supposedly came from. i wouldn't say i was a very good "cambridge" student though haha.there were a couple of graduations going on as it was summer. it must be really cool to be graduating from cambridge, i'm sure the parents are gloriously proud of their children on this day. witnessing this graduation brought back some memories. i saw my bro-in-law's graduation photo hanging on the wall at his mum's place when we visited and it hit me that i should really go take a proper graduation shot in the studio. nevermind that it's LONG overdue, but i should really do it! - at least for my parents.we rented a boat and decided to punt it ourselves down the cambridge river. the bro-in-law took up the punter's role initially. he was doing a really good job!the heroic dad got excited and took over the role from the hardworking bro-in-law. the dad was pretty good as well, but i was so afraid that he might sprain his back or something.my turn to take over! it was fun albeit tiring to punt. i would say it requires 60% technique and 40% strength.

this is it

ironically, "This Is It" is the name of his series of 50 comeback concerts. 50 shows in less than a year - is this overly ambitious? is it simply an attempt to fix his debt disasters? i choose to believe that he did it for the love of his fans, as king of pop, he has the social responsibility to fulfil the dreams of as many fans as possible in the world since this was going to be his last performance.

"When I say this is it," Michael said, "it really means this is it."

day 13 - thames river cruise and greenwich

we took a river cruise along river thames to greenwich. big sun that day! i think i just got darker after the cruise!we had fun walking in the park and the dad particularly enjoyed feeding the wild animals in the park.the squirrels were soooo cute!!! i tried to feed them peanuts but none came to me! hmph! all went to the dad instead. excuse me for the cheesy pose in the park hah!

day 12 - windsor castle, stonehenge and roman bath

today we joined a tour bus along with other tourists. first up was to see the windsor castle, photos were not allowed inside the castle hence we could only manage pictures of its exterior.i prefer leeds castle to windsor as windsor tend to be more touristy with organised tours like the one i joined coming in one after another.nonetheless, windsor is still a famous castle to visit so i'm glad we came!i like stonehenge! it's a world heritage site and i am amazed at how the ancient people managed to move those rocks without modern day technologies like the cranes to help them.last stop was the original roman bath. the hot springs within the roman bath spa place is still active after so many years. i quite like romanian architectures i realised. for some reasons which i cannot explain, hah!

it's no longer an 'it'

the sis went for her baby's sexing scan this morning and.....

*drum rolls*

a baby girl!

looks like it's going to be a niece for me!

day 9 - leeds castle in kent

we rented a five seater citroen and took a scenic drive up to kent to see the leeds castle. stopped for fish and chips lunch at a local pub and to get our directions right before heading off again.surrounding the castle were acres of land with a lake in the middle.the dad and his bollywood attempt.what you see behind me are lavenders, didn't know that the scent from lavenders actually come from the leaves and not really the flower itself!the exterior of the castle before we enter it.inside the castle is a recreation of how the different rooms looked like. there were some replicas but mostly everything you see is the real thing.the dad was a little spooked out by the rooms of the castle - parts of the castle are opened for people to live in, the dad says he would never sleep in the room even if you paid him, hah!view from second floor.this is a perfect picture of a peacock going after a peahen! peacock getting hornnnnyyyy...and trying to attract the attention of the peahen, nope - i didn't stay on till the end to see if he succeeded, i hope he did!i liked this picture, nice shot by my LX3! very pleased.nice trip out of london city, definitely worth going.
