just now i ordered an iced lemon tea at the coffee shop. the kopi soh shouted my order back to the uncle standing behind the drinks counter. she yelled: "kim boon tai jik puay!"
"!?????!" "what is kim boon tai?" i asked my father.
"kim boon tai = 金文泰" he replied.
"uh-huh...so? what has 金文泰 got to do with my order?"
"hai...金文泰 is clementi...and your order is lemon tea! you very slow!"
i felt so enlightened.
