bali = land of trash and mosquitoes

you can take the Singaporean out of Singapore, but not Singapore out of the Singaporean...

people say that Bintan...is just another extension of Singapore - and this is exactly why we (the mum, the dad and me) like Bintan more than Bali. hahaha.... oh well, to be fair, i guess it is just the wrong season to be in Bali. the strong winds are blowing all the trash from neighbouring islands (haha maybe from Singapore) into Bali and hence this sorry sight of Bali beach.even a sea turtle was washed up the beach. it was dead by the time i discovered it. so sad right. maybe it got suffocated by a plastic bag or choked on a straw or something.anyways the aim of this trip was to let parents from both sides meet, and sorta "discuss" about sis' and the BF's marriage next April.since the beach was not fantastic at all, we found other stuffs to do. young ones bake in the sun, allowing lethal UV rays come through their skin, expediting the ageing process...while the old folks stay in room for facial and massage in an attempt to regain their youth... yeah it is a paradoxical world we're living here.we took a day trip round the island, stopping at a few tourist attractions before heading to Kintamani.sis and the BFpaddy fields behind us.yup finally at Kintamani, the last time it erupted was 1994 (source of information: our driver cum guide) quite shiok man, sitting by the side of the cliff having lunch with the volcano just right in front of you. roadside fruit stalls, reminded me of cameron highlands. mum went crazy over the passion fruits she saw. we bought so much of that at Singapore price! i think the owner was laughing all the way to the bank.we went to this agricultural farm thingy and i was like trying to grind the coffee beans into powder. heh. the nenek sitting there was so cool. she was eating betel nuts and her lips were all RED. she said: "natural lipstick...cantik!"my best friend throughout the entire trip: Tiger Balm mosquito repellant.we were at the temple and witnessed a major celebration which only takes place every 6 months. so lucky! and according to Balinese calender, one month has 35 days, which means this ceremony is only once every 210 days!
i'll prolly give Bali another shot next time, go in the right season ie: april/june/july/august. this time with my mates and we can try to surf and white water raft and stuffs?
me and mum in similar t-shirt! so sweet hor? haha. you know they say if you wanna know how you will look like when you grow old, just look at the mum. not bad lah if i can look like that when i'm 55 yrs old!alright..better luck with Bali next time! Happy New Year 2008!
