me bestie from primary school!! after 16 years we finally met again!! it felt like we never lost each other - i like this feeling :)just came back from this mini primary school gathering-dinner feeling very satisfied. but i realised in 5 hours time i need to be at the airport and i haven't done ANY packing.

in any case, HK, here i come AGAIN for the Nth time.

oh man, facebook is probably one of the best invention on earth! a longg lost primary school bestie found me in the facebook universe! AN and i used to be soooo close when we were young but never saw each other again after primary school graduation - what a shame!! 16 years have past since i last saw/spoke to her!!

we've arranged to meet up this wednesday - it's AMAZING.

SAM opening ceremony

a couple of folks from my department received invites to the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) opening party last night. undoubtedly we attended because we were fundamentally concerned with the development of the contemporary arts scene in Singapore and NOT because we wanted to check out the drinks. (although i did see a few sulking faces when we saw a table full of punch when we walked into the party heh.)

after the boring speech, we heard a champagne bottle pop - =Dafter 5 glasses of champange... we were ready to start our tour in the museum.

there were just two art pieces there which i liked and more importantly could understand what the artist was trying to express. all the words you see in this picture are related to a female's life and they are made out of human hair!

the complete art piece was about the life of a female - the factors/stages she has to face in her womanly life...to bring home the bread and juggle with looking after her kids etc. let's just say, 女人我最大!this art piece was trying to depict the mechanised learning scene which we face as a country. on one side you have books containing all sorts of knowledge we are 'supposed' to acquire and the learning catalyzed with the help of a machine, finally with everything 'drilled' into our heads.and this is our attempt at creating a contemporary art piece - the theme was 'lack of space'. the ever growing population in singapore is making the lack of space a very real issue. we have to share our very limited space with people from other countries!! hah..(in this picture we have singaporeans, malaysians and indonesians) - good intepretation!!love overcomes all barriers!we ended the night with a really nice thai dinner in a nearby coffeeshop which i thought it was really quite good value for money!!

just two minutes into jogging i felt my heart burning, i couldn't take it. i was weak and unfit. it was just 300 meters away from where i had started and thoughts of giving up were already going through my head. i quickly drove those thoughts outta my head - i walked then i jogged then i hopped and i walked again... i did anything and everything i could to bring myself further away.

i miss the times where i was healthy and in good shape. where i will do weights, cardio and tkd everyday for 6 days in a week. where the doctors will take my pulse rate and could tell i was an athlete right away and praised me for being so physically fit.

I NEED TO GET MY ACT TOGETHER!!! I NEED TO GET BACK IN SHAPE!!!

friends... HELP ME! stop me from eating junk!! :)

super ripped off!

last night we brought the brother in law's parents who are in Singapore to Long Beach restaurant for a seafood dinner. Long Beach has always been our prefered choice when it comes to hosting friends/relatives from overseas.

the food was good as usual and everyone was happy, but when we got the bill we were horrified! - it costed $400++ for a 7pax dinner! when we looked carefully at the breakdown of the items, we realise we were charged $124 for four cray fishes.

this is RIDICULOUS!!!

how can four cray fishes cost $124? it's not like this is our first time ordering this dish at Long Beach. the restaurant manager told us these are "live cray fishes from the pacific ocean" - look at my face - do you think i fucking care?!

it's totally unacceptable.

i was terribly disappointed with what went on - i felt a sense of betrayal more than anything. we as a family have been patronizing them for the past what 20 years?? it has some of my bestest childhood memories but was destroyed all because of this unfair transaction.

sigh. the dad was so upset that he tore the bill into half!

wahaha.. i think i've lost control over myself - i booked another air ticket to HK on top of the other THREE !! so that's what?... 4 holiday destinations in 2 months? hmm...and i think it's going to my 13th visit to HK this time? or is it 14th?...

happy new year 2010!

this year's new year's eve was spent at home, with family and a new addition - the baby niece! it was the first time the baby niece came to her grandparent's place and i guess that was something special? :)

the only entertainment that night was wii in which the brother in law was totally addicted to it. the dad was not impressed with wii - he thinks it is "not realistic one"...(he scored the lowest in wii bowling haha)

on the contrary, the brother in law thinks "it's amazing how realistic this game is" and he was trying all sorts of techniques like curve/hook balls. haha but the dad said to him: "can you score 192 in real life? cannot right? so this game is not realistic one!" -- let's just say the the dad was NOT happy with his wii bowling score hahahaha...oh and i got kicked in the ass by the mum in wii bowling!! boy, she's good at it!

as for today - 01.01.10 -- I AM AT WORK!! but i'm not complaining (yet) since it pretty much just requires me to SIT and STARE at the screen. hah. looking forward to a good year ahead and wish everyone lots of luck and love!

the mum and i managed to finish painting the walls and putting up the new blinds all in 1 hour! the mum is sooo talented!! she knows how to do like everything! i am loving every inch of my turquoise coloured wall.

christmas eve part 2

went orchard to meet up with the BV gang after work as we await for dinner at the wine company. and yes, we were ALL in checkered shirts! second time for me on that day! that was pretty cool...we reached wine company@dempsey pretty early and it was nice chilling out whilst waiting for the sun to set and for the rest of the BV gang to arrive.i love the wine company, i think their food and wine are really quite good value for money. they don't charge GST and service fee - the prices you see on the menu are NET prices so what you see is what you pay. i get a further 10% discount because i am a member! i love that place!!my all time favourite wine - steigelmann gimmeldinger from germany. semi sweet with a hint of lychee.. mmm...

christmas eve part 1

it was cupcakes day at the office, with various different people ordering cupcakes/logcakes/tartlets for the desk. this one is especially good, because they not only look good, they also taste good.it's called ONICUPCAKES... ideas for your next party/gathering. :)these are from coffee bean, not exactly cupcakes actually because the one i had was filled entirely with dark chocolate cream - i liked it because of the dark chocolate + mint combination :)"check" this out - checkered is the way to go this christmas, heh.

weekend duck rice warriors

my greatest motivation to work the saturday shift: duck rice at circular road! it's almost impossible for me to eat it on a weekday because the walk is far and the place is PACKED. most importantly - the ducks are pretty much sold out by 130pm!we bought half a duck, veg, eggs, peanuts and all of us sat around together for lunch. there was this sense of 'togetherness' :) it felt almost like a reunion dinner hah. i love my friends in BB!

ashes to ashes, dust to dust

today was grandma's funeral. she was cremated at mandai crematorium. i am very impressed with the level of technology and automation of the entire cremation process. whilst it was handled both professionally and respectfully - i felt it lacked the 'human' touch.

anyways, what's more important now is for everyone to stop grieving and get back on their feets soon.

we lost grandma today

not everyone of us could make it in time to say our final goodbyes before she passed on but i'm glad she left in peace.

here are the proud parents of baby calista on day 1. apparently the sister had a hard time delivering her because she was pretty big at 3.62kg! i thought the baby didn't look newborn to me, she was big, meaty and has lots of hair. haha no it's not a description of a gorilla! anyways i'd say she looks 70% asian and 30% caucasian - but i was told that things might change after a few months. :)big feet! haha like her mum.and long legs...just like her dad.one of the happiest and most excited person around would be the mum - or rather - the grandma in this case. :) i really like this picture of the mum in the midst of carrying the baby.and.. if you are wondering why i have not posted any close up photos of the baby's face - that's because i couldn't get a nice one with her eyes opened. will try to post it soon!

after the 'full dress rehearsal' (false alarm) at the hospital last week - the sister went into labour yesterday and finally popped at 3:21pm today!!

good job to the brother-in-law for being with the sister throughout her entire ordeal! :)

so who says foreigners only take from our society and do not give? here's the brother in law's contribution to our decreasing Singaporean population. haha!

they removed all the fishes in the office aquarium tanks and replaced them with plastic fish picture cards! cost cutting or a case of fish kidnapping?! heh... has the light at the end of the tunnel been switched off due to budget cuts? LOL.

933 hit awards 2009

today i received an unexpected invitation to the 933 hit award 2009! JY had a pair of complimentary tickets so we went for it together. pretty neat seats for a pair of free tickets i'd say. from our view we could see the stars walking to the backstage after their performances.

i realised i'm so not in tune with the chinese pop song scene (or rather the pop song scene in general heh) i had no idea that hit awards was tonight, no idea which celebs were coming, didn't know most of their songs and albums... nonetheless, I ENJOYED MYSELF!Olivia Ong!!! - my favourite!!! she sang the Little Nyonya theme song again - afterall that's the only chinese song she knows but i'm not complaining because i know this song too and i could 'connect' with her! :PS.H.E!!! - JY's favourite!!! actually, i like S.H.E too, and i was familiar with the lyrics of 3 out of the 4 songs they sang that night, really cool!i had a good time tonight and most songs were great. the very last time i watched any kind of live performance in the singapore indoor stadium was in 1996!!

after the event we went for supper till 4am with CY, DY and their 933 DJ friends including PF - who was one of the awards ceremony host. CY and DY are releasing their first album this year!!!

i didn't understand the client when he used the term. on one end i pretended to know what he was saying and on the other i was frantically google-ing for an answer. at first i was embarrased about my lack of knowledge, but after asking a couple of friends and none of them knew what a parenthesis was - my bruised ego felt slightly better.

why cannot just say brackets huh? so complicated for what?!

this morning i woke up from a dream. to cut the long story short, i dreamt of ah siao meeting an elvis presley looking persian cat at a multi storey carpark???!!

they were both standing on their hind legs only.. and shaked paws... WTH.

i seriously have no idea how this dream came about and why elvis presley of all people?!?!?! ..maybe it was because of THIS REPORT i saw on the news last night...

summer party 09

before i start, i can't believe i didn't blog about summer party 08?!?!

anyways this year's summer party is at Sentosa AGAIN! but it's not like i'm complaining. i think the concept of a beach party is great!the live bands and performances this year was pretty good. i liked the entire atmosphere...well as usual, BB's parties are always about nice music, good food, lots of alcohol and full of great people :)
